In New York City, Steve Borneman Jumps from Cumulus to Clear Channel. Market Manager Steve Borneman exits Cumulus Media New York to join the Clear Channel Media and Entertainment cluster in New York City for a "senior management position" to be announced. At Cumulus, Borneman had been overseeing Talk WABC-AM and Hot AC WPLJ-FM. Cumulus is also obtaining WFME-FM in the market, and Borneman's replacement there will ultimately have three stations to oversee. Meanwhile, there's speculation that Borneman may be joining Clear Channel as Director of Sales, but there are unconfirmed rumors that his new title might be something "more impressive."

Ray De La Garza to Exit Radio Disney. Ray De La Garza will exit Radio Disney as VP of Programming at the end of January. His position is being eliminated. De La Garza is a 29-year industry veteran. He previously was VP and General Manager of Spanish News Talk KMXE-AM, Los Angeles, and has served as Chief Operating Officer for Radiovisa Corp. and SVP of Programming for Premiere Networks (when it was still Premiere Radio Networks).

Portland's KPOJ-AM to Flip to 'Fox Sports Radio 620'. Clear Channel Talk KPOJ-AM, Portland, Oregon, flips to "Fox Sports Radio 620." The new Sports Talk station, launching Monday (Nov. 12), we are told, "will provide the community with play-by-play game coverage from the Portland Trail Blazers and the Oregon State Beavers." Local favorites, including Scott Lynn of "Beaver Nation Live," will air along with Fox Sports Radio programming. Clear Channel Portland President and Market Manager Robert Dove tells us, "We're excited about providing the community with quality sports programming that highlights our new relationships with Oregon State University and the Portland Trailblazers. Welcoming the Fox Sports Network will set the standard of excellence for sports programming in Portland and I know it will resonate well with our listeners."

Conclave Learning Conference 38 Announced. The Conclave announces the dates for its 38th summer Learning Conference. "The three-day, content intensive agenda, starts Wednesday July 17, and runs to Friday July 19, at the Minneapolis Doubletree Hotel Park Place," says the announcement. "Early bird tuition of $199 makes the Conclave Learning Conference the best industry value by far, but is available only until December 31, 2012. Registration and hotel information is available on the Conclave website www.theconclave.com." The Conclave Learning Conference for the past 37 years has drawn together radio and music industry professionals, students, teachers, promotion companies, suppliers, syndicators, and free agents to learn and network. A 38-year-old 501(c)3 non-profit education organization, the Conclave offers year-round learning to the industry through webinars, a speaker’s bureau, and the Summer Learning Conference. It provides nearly $100,000 annually in media scholarships.
