Welcome! You found us here. Great. For those not yet familiar with us, a bit of an introduction is in order.
I am a 50 year radio broadcasting professional who started as an on-air weekend host at the age of 15 at a small hometown station. Through the years I was also a Program Director, Operations Manager, Station Manger and eventually General Manager at various radio stations. I "evolved" through many technical changes and innovations over the years as technology began moving forward right up to the digital age and the Internet.
Approximately five years ago, after much research and development, I created the "Total Popular Music"
("TPM") radio format, which I described as "the new mass appeal hit music radio format" and launched an online website, TotalPopularMusic.com -- which continues. Along the way I've added many content features to that website, including one of the most popular, TPMedia NewsPage, featuring radio and media news.
For some time, however, we have had increasingly all too common server problems with the hosting company we have used. For various legal reasons, about which more will be posted soon, we are unable to relocate our website hosting to another company until January 2013. So what to do in the interim?
It ultimately occurred to me that a Blogger site might be the answer. It turns out that actually it will be two answers. I've decided to have two blogs: one for Radio and Media News (this one) and one for the "Total Popular Music" radio format.
For now, these blogs will be used two ways. First for limited content from my main website, most of the time. But more important, as we make our regular readers at TotalPopularMusic.com (and former readers who gave up on us because of server problems) aware of these alternate locations, we will use these two blogs to publish content that cannot be at that time viewed when our website is not available.
I am seriously considering eventually making these two blogs, as they are fully developed, the ultimate "new main home" for content currently originating at TotalPopularMusic.com -- and even the possibility of having our domain url point directly to the second blog for "Total Popular Music" (which will also have a link to this blog for Radio and Media News). That could happen in January 2013 when we are able to leave the paid hosting we've been using (and which is now giving us many serious problems in being viewed by readers, all too frequently).
For now, I need to begin developing this blog, create and develop the second one, and then begin publicizing both. Yes, all of this will take some time. But this is the start of something new -- and I hope something big in the evolution of Total Popular Music and TPMedia News.
Welcome to our future!
