Atlanta's 'Zone' Adds Some ESPN Radio Content

ESPN Audio's national programming, featuring "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" (10am-noon ET), an extensive play-by-play line-up and select weekend shows, will air on "790 The Zone" WQXI-AM, Atlanta, starting December 1. "The Herd" will debut December 3, as WQXI-AM assumes the ESPN Radio programming from crosstown Sports rivals "680 The Fan" WCNN-AM and "1230 The Fan 2" WFOM-AM, which are now airing CBS Sports Radio. ESPN Radio's national play-by-play coverage features the NBA regular season, playoffs and Finals as well as MLB regular season, playoffs and World Series. Also included is the BCS (with a full slate of regular season college football), the USGA's U.S. Open, the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the Open Championship. "We are pleased with the opportunity to upgrade our presence in Atlanta and to be partnering with Lincoln Financial in these efforts," says ESPN Audio Distribution and Business Development Senior Director Patrick Polking. "Colin has historically done well in this market and we believe that 790-AM The Zone will only enhance his listener base and help us both grow our respective businesses." WQXI-AM Program Director Bob Richards (also Executive Producer of the Atlanta Falcons Radio Network) tells us, "790 The Zone is proud to become the new home for ESPN Audio and Colin Cowherd in Atlanta. Combining ESPN and Colin with being the flagship station of the Atlanta Falcons Radio Network, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, the Chik-Fil-A Bowl and our top-rated local drive time shows creates an unbeatable combination of local and national talent and content."
