Conclave Names Bob Shannon Executive Director

Veteran broadcast executive Bob Shannon has been named as the Conclave’s new Executive Director, it was announced by Mark Bolke, Chairman of the Conclave Board of Directors. Shannon, who succeeds Tom Kay, will be the organization's second ever Executive Director. Kay recently announced his retirement after almost four decades of service. Bolke says of Shannon's hire, "There obviously is no replacement for Tom Kay and his shaping the Conclave organization for the past 37 years. The executive selection committee was presented with a list of excellent candidates from which to choose. Bob Shannon represents the consummate broadcasting professional with a shared vision and passion to move the Conclave into a new era. We are thrilled to name him as our new Executive Director.” Shannon, whose consulting company bobshannonworks is based in Minneapolis, is the President of SpotMedia Services, a former Executive Vice President at TM Century, and the author of "Turn It Up! American Radio Tales 1946-1996."  On his new position he tells us, "As a student of radio I've long admired Tom and what he's done at the Conclave. Moving forward my goal is to build on his vision by expanding our online activity and looking very closely at how radio and our learning conference is addressing changes in media. This is a very exciting time, ripe with opportunities for those who know how to create compelling content. Stay tuned!" Shannon may be reached at bob@theconclave.com.  A 38-year-old 501(c)3 non-profit education organization, the Conclave offers year-round learning to the industry through webinars, a speaker's bureau, and the Summer Learning Conference. It provides nearly $100,000 annually in media scholarships.
