Salem Reports 4% Q3 Revenue Gain. Salem Communications reports a third quarter total revenue gain of 4.1% to $56.7 million from $54.5 million for Q3 2011. Operating income was down 8.7% to $8.5 million from $9.3 million. Net broadcast revenue increased 2.5% to $45.9 million from $44.8 million. Salem reports net earnings grew 126.8% to $3.4 million compared to $1.5 million in the year-ago period. Station operating income (SOI) decreased 2.1% to $15.3 million from $15.6 million, while Same Station net broadcast revenue was up 2.1% to $45.7 million from $44.8 million. Same station SOI declined 2.4% to $15.3 million from $15.6 million and same station SOI margin decreased to 33.4% from 35%. For the fourth quarter of 2012, Salem is projecting total revenue to increase 3% to 5% over fourth quarter 2011 total revenue of $57.1 million.

Cox Orlando Ups Stevie DeMann To OM, Names Two PDs. Cox Radio Orlando promotes five-year cluster vet Stevie DeMann to Operations Manager for Rhythmic CHR "Power 95.3" WPYO-FM and Country "K 92.3" WWKA-FM. DeMann expands his responsibilities with oversight of WWKA-FM. He will also continue to host middays on WPYO-FM. Cox Orlando also promotes two others in the cluster to Program Director – Assistant PD Hildi Schenck to PD at Adult Hits WMMO-FM, and "K 92.3" afternoon host JR Schumann to PD at .WWKA-FM.

NYC's 'Now' Is Now 'NOW'! CBS Radio CHR-Top40 "92.3 Now FM" in New York City changes its call letters from WXRK-FM to WNOW-FM. The former Rock station had used the WXRK calls since 1985 for its various past formats, except for a brief period in 2006-07 as Talk "Free FM" WFNY-FM. "92.3 Now FM" Program Director Rick Gillette says the station obtained a green light to obtain the WNOW-FM call letters from Radio One's Charlotte station where they'd been. It's still unclear, though, if FCC clearance has come yet or not. If not, the NYC station can use the calls except on their legal IDs. "92.3 Now FM" launched in New York in 2009.

Shamrock Re-Launching Reno Alternative KRZQ-FM. Shamrock Communications Reno Director of Broadcast Operations Willobee Carlan announces the return of Alternative KRZQ-FM in the market. Last year, KRZQ was flipped to Hot AC. However, says Carlan, when Shamrock asked Reno residents what format they would like the company to return to the market, "the response was overwhelmingly for an Alternative KRZQ." The station, being billed as "The Real Alternative," will launch soon on 104.1 FM, with returning KRZQ-FM personalities Chris Payne in afternoons and Smilin' Marty in mornings. The new KRZQ will celebrate its return November 13 with a concert from Everclear. A new website for the Alternative station is under construction at KRZQradio.com.

Clear Channel Signs EWTN Global for iHeartRadio. The Catholic Radio Network is the first of its kind to join Clear Channel Media and Entertainment’s iHeartRadio digital audio service. Clear Channel Atlanta Names Justin Schaflander DOS. Clear Channel Atlanta appoints Justin Schaflander to be cluster Director of Sales effective immediately. A 15-year media sales veteran, Schaflander will oversee the sales efforts for the company's six-station Atlanta cluster He most recently was General Sales Manager and Director of Events and Sponsorships. Since 2007, Schaflander has managed the sales operations for five of the Clear Channel Atlanta stations and all three networks, including the Atlanta Braves Radio Network, Total Traffic Network and the Georgia News Network. "I am thrilled to have Justin on my team," says President and Market Manager Matt Scarano. "He's a seasoned management veteran and has truly earned the opportunity to become the Director of Sales here in Atlanta. Justin is a fantastic sales leader and I am confident he will be an integral part of our success now and well into the future."
