Dr. Joy Browne says she's been let go from News Talk WOR-AM, New York City, by new owner Clear Channel. The change of ownership from Buckley Broadcasting has just been completed, and Clear Channel has taken over programming the station. One of the first changes made is the ouster of Browne, who had been with WOR-AM for close to 15 years. Her show has been airing on delay from 10pm-12midnight. Also out, we have learned, are Mike Huckabee's syndicated show (on delay 8-10pm) and former New York Governor David Patterson's local 4-6pm show. Reports from New York City say that off-air cutbacks, including those impacting the station's news department, have also been made. Buckley Broadcasting CEO Joe Bilotta released this statement: "The acquisition of WOR has officially closed. We thank our employees for their service over the years and wish them all the best in the future. We are providing our workers with a generous severance package, and Clear Channel will absorb a number of the station staff." Observers have been speculating on what changes Clear Channel would make. We hear there are "more still to come."
