Cumulus Media has signed Don Imus to a three-year contract extension keeping "Imus in the Morning" on Cumulus Talk WABC-AM, New York, through 2015. The show will also continue to be syndicated nationwide by Cumulus Media Networks, which has now also officially announced a new extension. Imus, who is completing his 40th year on air, will "continue to be a platform for no-holds-barred interviews with Washington insiders, pundits, authors, politicians and cultural icons," says a news release announcing the new contract. "I am delighted that our listeners and advertisers have the certainty of knowing Don and his amazing team at 'Imus In The Morning' will remain on 77 WABC for at least three more years," says Cumulus Co-COO John Dickey. "Don is a radio legend and is an important part of our team." And what does the I-Man have to say? "I love it. Let’s do it."
Fox Business Network, which simulcasts the radio show, has also renewed Imus, according to a separate announcement. FBN re-signed him "to a multi-year deal in which his Imus in the Morning program will continue to be simulcast on the channel," announced Kevin Magee, EVP of the network. The show will remain syndicated on the radio by Cumulus Media. In making the announcement, Magee said, “Imus has been a great addition to the FBN team bringing a business savvy program that informs and entertains our pre-market audience. We look forward to continuing our success in the years to come.” The show debuted on FBN in 2009 and "has consistently been one of the top rated programs on the network."
