Chad Fitzsimmons

CBS Radio promotes Chad Fitzsimmons to the newly created position of Director of Music Initiatives, effective immediately. "Working with the company’s nearly 85 major market music radio stations, its array of digital assets, and CBS owned television stations across the country, Fitzsimmons will develop and launch a variety of unique partnership opportunities for record labels to promote today's most popular artists and up-and-coming musicians to millions of music fans across the country. In addition, he will create exclusive one-of-a-kind experiences that allow listeners to engage directly with their favorite artists." Fitzsimmons will report to CBS Radio SVP of Programming Greg Strassell, while also working closely with the entire senior programming leadership team, and Helen Leisengang, VP of Integrated Marketing and Special Events. He will be based in Los Angeles. "We're delighted to name Chad to this exciting new position which will maximize exposure for artists on our stations, and elevate our ability to execute larger than life programs across the full spectrum of our portfolio," says Strassell. "Chad has worked on some of the most highly regarded music events, including CBS Radio's pre-Grammy concert held at the famed Grammy Museum, and was instrumental in creating the Red Bull Sound Space at KROQ and AMP Radio in Los Angeles. He knows what it takes to drive the best results for an artist using the powerful platform of radio."

"Strengthening radio and records symbiotic relationship has countless benefits - the most important being what these new initiatives will provide for the fans," says CBS Radio President/CEO Dan Mason. "We've had very creative meetings with labels and artist management as of late, and we look forward to continuing the two way dialogue, bringing to bear the full resources of CBS Radio." Fitzsimmons began his career in radio in 1999 as a promotion assistant at WKQX-FM in his hometown of Chicago. He went on to work in Charlotte, NC, at WNKS-FM, WEND-FM and WKQC-FM. In 2005, he moved to Los Angeles and took on the role of Marketing Director for KCBS-FM, a Classic Hits station at the time. Later that year the station launched Adults Hits "93.1 Jack FM." When CBS Radio debuted "97.1 Amp Radio" in Los Angeles, Fitzsimmons was named as Marketing Director for that station as well. Most recently he was Director of Integrated Marketing for Amp, 93.1 Jack FM and KROQ-FM, a position he has held until being named Director of Music Initiatives.

The NAB announces that CBS television journalist Bob Schieffer will receive the NAB Distinguished Service Award (DSA) during the 2013 NAB Show. Schieffer will accept the award at the opening keynote session, sponsored by Blackmagic Design, on April 8 in Las Vegas. "For more than 50 years, Bob Schieffer has been an eyewitness to history's biggest stories and respected as a preeminent journalist of his generation," says NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith. "In recognition of his dedication and profound impact on journalism, we are proud to present him with the Distinguished Service Award.” Each year the NAB DSA recognizes members of the broadcast community who have made significant and lasting contributions to broadcasting. Previous award recipients include Michael J. Fox, Mary Tyler Moore, President Ronald Reagan, Edward R. Murrow, Bob Hope, Walter Cronkite, Oprah Winfrey and Charles Osgood, among others. 2013 marks Schieffer’s 56th year as a reporter and his 44th year at CBS News.
