Before that, he was Program Director of CBS Radio's KXNT-AM, Las Vegas. "The KRLD call letters -- both on the AM and FM dial -- are close to my heart, so I'm honored to be selected and excited about this awesome opportunity," says Spittle. WTOP's Jim Farley to Retire at End of 2013

Hubbard All News WTOP-FM, Washington DC, VP of News and Programming Jim Farley says he will retire at the end of this year, although he will remain associated with the station and parent Hubbard Broadcasting as a consultant. The 47-year news broadcaster has been at WTOP for more than 16 years. There's been talk that he wanted to retire, or at least semi-retire, and now he tells staffers in a memo, "I’ve told some of you who asked, but thought I should share with all. At the very end of this year, I plan to stop working fulltime. I will continue with Hubbard and WTOP in a consultant role. Now, there are hired guns who will consult for anybody, and most consultants are out-of-work PD's. I bleed WTOP blood and am deeply invested in our continued success. I plan to stay involved until I start to drool conspicuously. I'll be a proactive resource for Joel Oxley, Laurie Cantillo, WTOP, and Hubbard, and I will visit often. I have so many good friends in this building and spent the best part of my long career here. On to the next chapter, but not until 2014." Prior to joining WTOP in 1996, Farley spent eight years with ABC News New York, following 13 years with NBC News.

NRG Media Adopts vCreative PPO for Production

NRG Media's 42 local radio stations will have the ability to share voice talent across all of their stations, increasing variety in production and enabling NRG's creative services people to deliver more effective ads for clients. The stations have all rolled out vCreative PPO. Twenty-eight of those stations have begun using vCreative PPO's cloud-based software system to manage work-flow from the time an ad is ordered, all the way through to its approval and completion. NRG owns stations in Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Minnesota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. NRG Media COO Chuck DuCoty says, "vCreative PPO has been a great addition to our NRG Media platform. It is an incredibly efficient way to manage the continuity and production process that has been embraced by the sellers, producers and traffic departments. The increased efficiency and communications has already cut down on internal errors. One of our managers has remarked that the system has already paid for its first year by catching a copy error before it hit the air."
