After more than eight years, Variety Hits "101.7 Bob FM" is gone -- replaced by "101.7 Hot Hit Country" at KBYB-FM, Hope, Arkansas, now owned by Texarkana Radio Center. "Bob" launched in late 2004 when what was then KJMY-FM flipped from Classic Hits. The station, along with two other FMs and two AMs, plus an FM translator, were recently acquired by Texarkana Radio Center in a $2.75 million deal ... Clear Channel Milwaukee promotes Jesse Mitchell to the newly created Digital Program Director position for its six-station cluster. Mitchell previously handled middays at CHR-Top40 WRNW-FM, Milwaukee, and was Imaging Director for the cluster's Oldies WRIT-FM and News Talk WISN-AM ... Former WGN-AM, Chicago, talk host (and more former politician) Jim Laski (now also a convicted felon) cancels his new weekend brokered show on crosstown WCPT-AM for lack of sponsors, according to Chicagoland Radio and Media. CRM also says that the WCPT-AM shows that were pushed back by two hours to make room for Laski -- including David Shuster's 'Take Action News' and 'The Costa Report' -- now move back to where they were before Laski's appearance on the station ... Oldies KKOL-FM, Honolulu, morning host Ed Kanoi, will soon be exiting Oahu for Kauai and a new job as General Manager and Program Director for the three Kauai stations licensed to H. Hawaii Media. Kanoi will also host the morning show on "Rooster Country" KTOH-FM ... Joel Santiago is joining Univision Radio's Spanish CHR "X96.3" WXNY-FM, New York, for afternoon host, starting June 13. Univision Radio says Santiago -- who previously was heard on crosstown Tropical "La Mega 97.9" WSKQ-FM -- will team with "El Padrino" (The Godfather) on "X96.3" featuring music mixes, humor, entertainment, news and more.
